My latest article from a coaches perspective. When I wrote this article, Scott Shawyer was at home in Canada, preparing for his first solo transatlantic yacht race—a 3,100 nautical mile (5,741 km) passage from New York to Les Sables d’Olonne in the Vendée region of France.
Today, the team is in Newport, RI (USA). We have just completed our final on-water training session with Scott, and today the boat heads to NYC for the Liberty Race, an on water fleet exhibition leading up to the NY-Vendee main event, which starts in 7 days on the 29th of May.
