BT team finish 2^nd in round one of Extreme Sailing Series Asia

 

Hong Kong turns out to be an amazing series venue with incredible facilities, a very warm welcome and awesome sailing conditions..flat water and wind every day. Finishing the round with a second overall for the BT boys was a great turn around from a tough European season. To win the famous Around Hong Kong Island race was a real highlight.

 

Team BT pushed Qman Sail Masirah (winners of European series) throughout the regatta leading the fleet by 4 points at the half way mark. A difficult day 4 of the 5 day regatta saw Oman Sail gain control that they were not to relinquish and take out the event. The BT boys finished strong winning the final double point race.

 

Very impressed with  Hong Kong as a sailing venue even though I have been there many times before (having previously won the Corum Cup and South China Sea Race back in 1996). The Harbour provides incredibly flat water and obviously the infrastructure surrounding the area sets the scene for some large wind shift trends that leave plenty of passing opportunities on the course.

 

Great event..i hope to be back again in 2010
